area proves to be hot ticket. "In an area, such as Pape and Danforth, there are not a lot of large condominium buildings. Developers are finding small conversion projects are a better fit for the neighbourhood." "And these projects are proving to be popular with buyers, as well". "Bob Mitchell, president of Mitchell and Associates, has three projects in the community: The Glebe, at Pape and Harcourt; Mayfair Walk, at Logan and Danforth, and Printer's Row, also at Logan and Danforth. All of them are conversion projects, and among the three there is only one unit left." "'I look for places where people would like to live,' says Mr. Mitchell. 'Areas that are vibrant communities.'" "He says that each of the three Danforth projects is small and unique. With 32 units, The Glebe, currently under construction, involves the conversion of an old church. The project, which is scheduled for occupancy at the end of 2003, will feature two-storey layouts, private terraces and fireplaces. 'It's all worked within the existing building,' Mr. Mitchell says. One 1,700-square-foot unit remains.... "'There's an element of change to the neighbourhood. Basically there's an element of renewal,' Mr. Mitchell says. |
